Letter 15 (2016-17)

                                                                                                                                12 December 2016
Dear Parents,
It is hard to believe that this is the last week of term one.  Time has really passed by  quickly and all the children have grown up and developed in many ways during this past  term.
Last week we concentrated our discussions on Christmas.  We made Christmas crafts t o decorate our classroom and our costumes. We also practiced our songs for the                   Christmas performance.  We practiced really hard.  Some of us could remember the      words   to the songs and tried to sing along, while others preferred to do the actions.  However, as we are still very small, we may get so excited when we see you that we may forget to sing, become shy or may just want to go and be with you.  The Christmas performance will be held this Thursday the 15th of December at around 9:00 a.m.  Please arrive at school by 8.20 so that we would have enough time to get changed.  It would be best to act as though this is a normal school day.  Just leave your children in the classroom, and then come and watch them in the Lily Theatre for the performance.  After the performance if they happen to see you and cry, you are welcome to come and sit with them at their seats.
Friday the 18th of December will be our party day.  In order to have a variety of food, dessert, and drinks for the party, a sign up sheet has been put up in front of the classroom for you.  All parents are welcomed to join the party.   The class will then end at 12 o’clock for all the students including those who normally stay for nap time.  On the party day please come to school dressed in Christmas colours such as red, green, silver, gold and/or white.  Classes will start again on Monday the 9th of January.
As this will be the last letter for this term, may you all have a very joyful time with your families and friends during Christmas and New Year holiday.
                                                                                       Best Regards,
                                                                                      Ms. Marizon

Letter 14 (2016-17)

6 December 2016
Dear Parents,
December is here, and we are now approaching the end of term one.  Time certainly flies.  It was only a few months ago when most of the children started to come to Nursery.  Last week we had a new friend join us for Pre-Nursery.  Please welcome Da Bao to our class.
Last week we ended our discussion on food with our last fruit; pumpkin.  Although we cook with pumpkin and see it to be more of a vegetable than a fruit, pumpkins are actually considered as a fruit.  We spent our time looking at pumpkins nearly the whole week.  We learned that pumpkins grew on vines and not on trees like apples or oranges.  When asked, most of us remembered that pumpkins were orange as we had been seeing pictures of orange pumpkins in books.  However, when we looked at a real pumpkin we saw that it was green.  We cut it opened and saw that the flesh was yellow.  We looked at pictures of other kinds of pumpkins and saw that pumpkins could also be yellow or even white!  When we cut opened the pumpkin we saw many seeds inside and helped to take them out.  We certainly had to tug and pull hard to get all the seeds out.  Did you get to try our pumpkin bread?  We made it from a fresh pumpkin.  While it was in the oven we kept asking when it could be eaten.
Last week we also spent nearly every morning practicing for our Christmas concert.  It was our first time to be on the big stage in the Lily Theatre, and some of us felt a bit lost being up there.  Hopefully, we would all get used to it, and will be able to perform for you next week.
This week we will be spending our time practicing with the other classes for our Christmas show and will be making Christmas crafts to decorate our classroom and to take home.  The Christmas concert will be held on Thursday the 15th of December, and on the 16th we will be having our Christmas party and meet a special guest from the north pole.  A sign-up sheet for party food will be put up in front of the classroom.  Please sign-up so that we can have a variety of food, dessert and drinks.
                                                                   Best Wishes,

                                                                   Ms. Marizon
