Letter 2 (2019-20)

Dear Parents,
Last week was the children’s second week of school, and the week that they started to realize that coming to school and being away from their love ones was a permanent routine.  Many of us have stated to adjust, while others may need a little more time. Some of us now only cry when you leave while others run in with smiles.  Last week we had a new friend join our class.  Please welcome Hops to our classroom.
We have started our theme on “Our Family”. Thank you for the photos that you had sent. We showed the photos to our friends, and tried to tell who the people in the photos were. We began our discussion by talking about our immediate family. We looked at pictures of families and learned that a family consists of people who live with us, and that a family can be big or small. Sometimes we got confused with the words that are used to call people in different families.  Some of us call our fathers “daddy” while others said “papa.”  The same goes with words used for mothers and grandparents. We then talked about jobs that our parents do while we are at school.  We saw pictures of mummies and daddies doing house work and office work.  We then pretended to be mummies and daddies doing house work.  During Sensory Play, we washed the clothes and had fun playing with the bubbles.
In the art centre we made our family member dolls. While making our dolls we talked about the body parts of the dolls. We named the parts of the face such as the eyes, nose, mouth and ears. We had our first Cooking activity last week. We were excited to make our face bun. Some of us tried hard to make the rice cake look like a face with eyes, nose and mouth, while others were happy to put the chocolate buttons here and there.

This Week

We will be talking about our extended family such as our grandparents, aunts and uncles.  We will also be talking about our house and rooms in our house.  Please let your child bring a toothbrush to school this week so that we can practice brushing our teeth while we talk about activities in the bathroom.

                                                                                                                     Warm Regards,

                                                                                                                      Ms. Marizon
