Dear Parents,
Last
week we had less rain than the previous weeks, and so the children had a chance
to go for water play again. They were so
happy when they could go into the pool to splash and pour water. The ones who could not play water got to play
sand and also enjoyed themselves very much.
We also got to play in the playground, and enjoyed playing on the swing,
going up and down the slide, running, and kicking balls.
We
had a great time last week learning about our feelings. We learned to identify different kinds of
feelings and the words that are used to describe different kinds of
feelings. We focused on feeling happy,
sad, angry, silly (playful), surprised, and sleepy. We read many books which showed characters
having different kinds of feelings. We
then tried to link those feelings to ourselves.
We looked in the mirror and made different facial expressions, before
singing songs about feelings. One of the
books we read was “Glad Monster, Sad Monster.”
After we listed to this story, we chose the monster that we wanted to
make and tried hard to glue the pieces to look like the monsters in the
book. In the math centre, we looked at
pictures of people with different feelings before identifying and sorting them
into groups. Some of us did a great job
sorting them out. After being able to
identify different feelings, we discussed that sometimes the same activity such
as having a haircut can make people have different feeling. After some thought we could imagine how we
would feel, before we cut the hair on our face doll. During the week we also made scones. We got to practice pouring and mixing the
ingredients before using all our strength to knead the dough.
This Week
This week
we will be learning about clothes. We
will start with our everyday clothes before moving on to winter clothes.
Show and Tell : Please
let your child bring in some cold day outfits such as
mittens,
jackets, jumpers, wooly socks, wooly hats, etc. . We
will be showing and trying them on.
Please
come to our Nursery STEM Week display on Friday 20th at 12 noon. You are welcome
to come again at 14.30 for the whole of EY – KS1
display.
Warm Regards,
Ms. Marizon
