Welcome back and Happy Thai New Year! I hope you all had a good time during the Songkran break. This week will mark the beginning of Term 3 which will be our last term for this school year. We have some new friends joining us this term. Let’s welcome Hong Kong, Achi, Prom, and Alice. Let’s also welcome Ms. Nok our new TA to the team. Ms. Nok will be our TA in the Nursery class for this term while Ms. Tum is on maternity leave. She has many years of experience working as a TA in the Early Years and the Primary classes, and is very happy to join us.
The week before the end of term 2, we ended our discussion on “Stories We Like.” That week we read and explored three stories, “Hansel and Gretel”, “The Gingerbread Man” and “The Three Little Pigs.” In Hansel and Gretel, we looked at the witch’s house covered in sweets and talked about not taking things from others without getting their permission. In the art centre, we made cupcakes, ice-cream, and other kinds of food. We then added the sweets and food into Little Red Riding Hood’s basket. After we read “The Gingerbread Man”, we pretended to be the Gingerbread Man running away from the people, cow, horse and farmers. We certainly have very fast runners in our class as only one gingerbread man got caught! Then we painted our Gingerbread Men and in the math centre we looked at different kinds of shapes and chose the shapes that we wanted to decorate our Gingerbread Men to be the eyes, nose, mouth, and buttons. On our last day on Songkran day, we certainly had lots of fun. Of course we loved splashing the water more than anything.
Our first theme this term will be “Transportation.” We will be looking at land, water and air transportations. This should certainly be a very interesting and exciting theme for all of us.
