Letter 15 (2018-19)

11 December 2018
Dear Parents,
It is hard to believe that this is the last week of term one.  Time has really passed by quickly and all the children have grown up and developed in many ways during this past term.
Last week we concentrated our discussions on Christmas.  We made Christmas crafts    o to decorate our classroom and our costumes. We also practiced our songs for the
Christmas performance.  We practiced really hard.  Some of us could remember the         words to the songs and tried to sing along, while others preferred to do the actions.
However, as we are still very small, we may get so excited when we see you that we           may forget to sing, become shy or may just want to go and be with you.  The Christmas pPerformance will be held this Tuessday the 11th of December at around 9:00 a.m.  Please aarrive at school by 8.15 so that we would have enough time to get changed and to settle       down.  It would be best to act as though this is a normal school day.  Just leave your      c children in the classroom, and then come and watch them in the Lily Theatre for the           performance.  After the performance you are welcome to come to the classroom to take p photos.
Friday the 14th of December will be our party day.  In order to have a variety of food, ddessert, and drinks for the party, a sign up sheet has been put up in front of the cclassroom for you.  There will also be a game of lucky dip.  Please provide one gift of aaround 300 baht for your child to swap with his/her friends.  Parents are welcome to join oour party.  The class will then end at 12 o’clock for all the students.  On the party day pplease come to school dressed in Christmas colours such as red, green, silver, gold
and/or  white.  Class will resume on Monday the 7th of January.
As this will be the last letter for this term, may you all have a very joyful time with
your families and friends during Christmas and New Year holiday.
                                                                                       Best Regards,
                                                                                      Ms. Marizon

Letter 14 (2018-19)

3 December 2018
Dear Parents,
December is here, and we are now approaching the end of term one.  Time certainly flies.  It was only a few months ago when the children started to come to Nursery.  I would also like to take this opportunity to welcome Yeepoon our new friend to the class.
Last week we ended our topic on fruits.  We looked at many more fruits such as apples, pineapple, rose apple, strawberries, watermelon and coconut.  We compared apples, rose apples and pineapple and noticed that although they all had the name apple, they looked and tasted differently.  When learning about apples, we looked at every part of an apple.  We tasted green and red apples and found the green ones to be sour and the red ones to be sweet.  Surprisingly, many of us preferred the green apples. We compared the red apples to the other red fruits and discovered that we could eat the skin of some fruits, while others we could only eat the meat inside.  In the discovery centre, we matched pictures of fruits on the outside to fruits on the inside.  We all did quite a good job in matching the fruits to their pair.  At the end of the week, we explored coconuts. We found coconuts to be a fun fruit as we could use the coconut shells to do make so many useful items including musical instruments. We even tried walking on coconut shells and found it to be extremely difficult.  As coconut milk is used in cooking, we also experimented making coconut milk during sensory play.  It was fun!
Last week we also spent nearly every morning practicing for our Christmas show.  It was our first time to be on the big stage in the Lily Theatre, and some of us felt a bit lost being up there.  Hopefully, we would all get used to it, and will be able to perform for you next week.
This week we will be spending our time practicing with the other classes for our Christmas show and making Christmas crafts.  This Wednesday 5th of December is a public holiday, school will resume on Thursday 6th December.  The Christmas concert will be held on Tuesday the 11th of December at 9 a.m. On the 14th we will be having our Christmas party and meet a special guest from the north pole.  A sign-up sheet for party food will be put up in front of the classroom.  Please sign-up so that we can have a variety of food, dessert and drinks.
                                                                                               Best Wishes,
                                                                                               Ms. Marizon
